Too Few Un-dated Ballots To Enable McCormick To Take Lead From Oz

by Gerry May 24, 2022

Mail Ballots

Arguments are continuing over 257 un-dated mail ballots from last year’s election in Lehigh County. In light of a recent Federal Court decision, lawyers for Dave McCormick and Mehmet (Dr.) Oz have joined the chorus, and have begun arguing over whether or not to count the un-dated mail ballots from last week's election. But they might be arguing over a big nothing. Last year, … [Read more...] about Too Few Un-dated Ballots To Enable McCormick To Take Lead From Oz

Right now, Mehmet (Dr.) Oz is 1,241 votes ahead of David McCormick in the GOP race for U.S. Senate. That number hasn't budged since last night. But Electoral-Map and Vote-Counting Guru, Steve Kornacki said this morning, that he thinks there are about 15,000 uncounted mail ballots. According to Karnicki, the last batch of mail ballots that were counted, only … [Read more...] about Don’t Bet The House On Oz Beating McCormick

For Trump And Dr. Oz – Very Good Things Happened In Philadelphia

by Gerry May 18, 2022

Bad Things Philly Oz Wins Philly

https://youtu.be/QSQXgBUcIE4 Donald Trump saying "Bad things happen in Philadelphia" (September 29, 2020 - Presidential Debate in Cleveland, Ohio) could be the worst insult cast toward the City of Brotherly Love since W.C. Fields made his alleged disdain for his hometown an integral part of his comedic repertoire. Today, Trump and his protege Mehmet (Dr.) Oz might be having … [Read more...] about For Trump And Dr. Oz – Very Good Things Happened In Philadelphia

Montco GOP Sample Ballot Hijinks

by Gerry May 17, 2022

MCRC Ballot HiJinx

Click above to enlargeThe leadership of the Montgomery County Republican Committee (MCRC), undeterred by their own bylaws that prohibit them from endorsing candidates in statewide primary elections, came up with a lawyerly workaround that enabled them to make it appear that the whole committee had endorsed Dave White for Governor, and Clarice Schillinger for Lt. Governor. The … [Read more...] about Montco GOP Sample Ballot Hijinks

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

These Garments Have Been Politically Maligned

Most non-Arabs who wear the keffiyeh do not intend it to be Anti-Semitic in any way. They wear it as an expression of sympathy for Palestinian civilians, support for human rights, concern about war, or identification with a broader cause of national identity and self-determination. In their minds, it is directed toward Palestinians, not against […]

What Does My Fountain Pen Have In Common With The Former Lord & Taylor In Bala Cynwyd?

Both come out of the work of Raymond Loewy and his design firm. Raymond Loewy (1893–1986) helped define what modern America looked like in the mid-20th century. Through his design firm, he worked across an unusually wide range of industries—transportation, consumer products, branding, and architecture—often simultaneously. No one in history is more closely associated with […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
