Rep. Pam DeLissio is currently one of four members of the Pennsylvania House who represent parts of Lower Merion. Her 194th District is mostly comprised of Manayunk, Roxborough and East Falls. All of Belmont Hills and parts of Penn Valley and Bala Cynwyd are also included in the 194th. However, no areas of Lower Merion will be included in the 194th District if the proposed map of the Pennsylvania Legislative Reapportionment Commission is implemented.
The proposed map shows sections of Lower Merion that are currently in the 194th District – being moved into the 148th District (currently represented by Mary Jo Daley).Β
On the commission’s proposed map, Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy and West Mount Airy have been carved out of the 200th District and are now part of 194th.
Β
Rep. Chris Rabb, who currently represents the 200th, now finds himself living in the same 194th District as DeLissio. DeLissio and Rabb are both Democrats. Before the commission had revealed its proposed map, Tarik Khan had announced that he was planning to challenge DiLissio in the May 2022 Primary.
Last month, the Inquirer mentioned Khan among several “upstarts,” who “will try to follow in the steps of State Sen. Nikil Saval and State Reps. Elizabeth Fiedler, Rick Krajewski, and Chris Rabb β all progressive Philly Democrats who beat more moderate incumbents or establishment-backed candidates.”
Khan did not reply to an email asking if he would run against both DeLissio and Rabb.
